In a bid to reduce landfill, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School families were recently given an organic waste kitchen caddie and a roll of compostable bags.
Head of Primary Rob Whirledge said it was part of a wider school effort to promote and encourage sustainable habits.
“The aim is to boost organics recycling within the region and reduce the amount going to landfill,” he said.
“The Kitchen caddies are a nice sized container with a sealed lid which can sit on the bench, collecting kitchen scraps for transport to the organics wheelie bin outside.
“This is just one of the ways our school is trying to minimise and educate students about their impact on the environment.”
The school is committed to sustainability, recently installing solar panels and making improvements to water efficiency.
