Hundreds of eggshells will fill Bunbury’s Convent Gallery when performance artist Annette Carmichael moves in with her delicate travelling companions next week.
Ms Carmichael, will join regional artists - photographer Nic Duncan, textile artist Janine McCrum, sound designer James Gentle and sculptor Kevin Draper - for The Index, a month long installation at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.
Ms Carmichael said the project was in response to escalating global levels of fear and terror.
“I am always trying to create moments of beauty that can serve as a counterpoint to that fear,” she said.
“This is an index of moments caught in performance, photographs and life that help to create a sense of balance in an atmosphere of precariousness and uncertainty.
“Depending on which way you look at them they can appear intact or cracked; as if something has just hatched from within.”
A study of harmony and disruption, The Index opens on Saturday, March 10 and will run until April 15, from 10am-4pm each day.
