The traditional collided with the modern at this year’s Bunbury Chinese New Year Festival.
The festival now in its second year was held on March 5 at the Stirling Street Arts Centre.
Event organiser Amanda Yip said it was a very hands-on event where people experienced a range of activities.
“We want people to have a connection with another Chinese person because we think that’s another step towards better harmony and understanding of other cultures,” she said.
An array of family run food stalls provided tasty delights with the day including the popular Lion Dance, Ping Pong exhibition, musical instrument demonstrations, fire crackers and talks on Chinese medicine.
“We would like to leave a legacy in the town and also create something that people can come to and meet Chinese people,” Ms Yip said.
