In a Bunbury first, Diabetes WA has partnered with the City of Bunbury to run a free short information session for people living with Type 2 diabetes, for those just diagnosed, for carers and those at risk.
The Connect with Diabetes session will be held on Friday, 16 March at the Bunbury Library and will help people to better understand diabetes, the importance of self management and to make small changes to live a healthier life with their family.
Diabetes WA manager Sophie McGough said event would not only help people to engage with their diabetes but importantly connect with quality local services that can help with all aspects of diabetes.
“Type 2 diabetes can be easy to ignore if you’re busy and there are few symptoms, but day to day management is very important to long-term health,” she said.
“The Connect with Diabetes session aims to bring diabetes back to the front of mind, participants will also find out about local Bunbury services that are available to them.”
City of Bunbury Mayor Garry Brennan said he was keen to support the event by providing the venue and helping to promoting it as part of their Live and Learn program.
“The City of Bunbury is a proud supporter of Diabetes WA initiatives and the work the organisation does in educating and informing the community when it comes to making healthy choices,” he said.
“I encourage anyone with an interest in their health or their family’s health to attend the Live and Learn session being held at the Bunbury City Library.”
