Boyup Brook’s annual Open Tennis Tournament played host to 92 players from seventeen different tennis clubs from March 3 to 4.
The event saw 193 singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches played over 19 events.
The tournament ranged from junior to veterans competitions.
Bunbury’s Sam Galati won the Men’s Singles Championship final over Mandurah’s Haddon Atwell.
Galati and Bridgetown’s Liam Campbell went on to win the Men’s Doubles Championship event.
Bunbury’s Harry Piacentini and Thomas Bouzada went head-to-head in the Junior Under 10s’ Singles event, with Piacentini coming out on top.
Thomas and Nicholas Bouzada took down Harry and Thomas Piacentini in the Juniors U10s’ Doubles final.
Tessa Kongras (Bunbury) clinched the Subteen Girls’ U13s event.
Australind’s Barry and Tracey Eaton won the Veterans Mixed Doubles tie, while Jon and Alby Kongras won the B-Division Mixed Doubles event.
Tournament director Jodi Nield was pleased with this year’s tournament.
“There is such a relaxed feel about our Tournament – it runs so smoothly and everyone has a great time on and off the court,” she said.
Organisers thanked the Boyup Brook Tennis Club, volunteers involved in the event, and the local businesses sponsoring prizes for the event winners.
