Colts’ first grade side booked its place in the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association grand final with a one-wicket victory over Marist last weekend.
Marist placed second at the end of the regular season, while Colts finished six points behind in fourth.
Having lost to Eaton in the semi-finals, Marist was looking to set up a re-match.
Meanwhile, the Colts’ side was on a high after its decisive victory and impressive form against Dalyellup Beach earlier this month.
Playing to a delighted crowd at Forrest Park North, the Blues won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Colts’ inning began shakily as opening batsmen Dylan Bairstow (2) and Jayden Goodwin (0) were quickly dismissed.
After being stranded on 2/11, wicketkeeper Jaysen Miguel (13 runs off 24, including two fours), captain Cruize Ciallella (13 off 34) and James Anderson (11 off 24) got their squad back on track.
Star Murray Goodwin knocked 70 off 114 before being run out by Marist’s Jack Wilson.
Riley Miguel (27 off 30) and Josh Topliss (17 off 8) assisted Colts in reaching 9/191 from its 50 overs.
Marist bowler Sam Roots clinched 2/26 from 10 overs while wicketkeeper Adam Spinelli nabbed two catches.
The Blues appeared intimidated from the outset.
The dismissals of batsmen Cory Fitt (1), Joshua Vague (4), Kyle Davis (0) and Ben Shipley (0) placed Marist on 4/12.
Strong efforts from captain Reece O’Connell (35 off 69, including four fours), Glen Dehring (13 off 40) and Brayden Clarke (18 off 42, including a six) gave their side hope.
Later in the inning, Spinelli knocked an impressive 22 off 41 before the away side obliterated Marist’s lower order.
Bowlers Joe Barningham (4/24 from 10, along with two catches) and Topliss (3/34 from 7) were instrumental in dismissing the Blues for 110.
Colts and Eaton will face off in the grand final at Eaton Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon.
