A collection of Bunbury school students showcased their talents during the South West Head of the River Rowing Regatta on Sunday.
Schools including Bunbury Catholic College, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, John XXIII College, and Great Southern Grammar went head-to-head at the Leschenault Inlet/Bunbury Rowing Club.
The event also featured competitors from Manea Senior College and Eaton Community College.
Bunbury Rowing Club captain Mitch Oliver said the event greatly benefited the club, competitors and spectators.
“It is a good opportunity for our schools to mix in with some private schools, it gives them a taste for competition and a chance to try out their technique,” he said.
“Rowing requires discipline and teamwork, so I think a lot of the kids take those traits back to school and use them in their lives going forward.”
BCGS rowing coach Simon Turner said the regatta provided the opportunity for Bunbury students to compete against other schools.
