Job Description

Reporting through to the Financial Controller, your role will include:

  • Manage fortnightly payroll (circa 500 staff) in a timely and accurate manner
  • Analyse employment legislation, Collectives and awards and determine pay differentials for shiftwork, overtime, terminations, back-pays and other entitlements
  • Maintain integrity of payroll system and master files and accurate leave accruals to meet award and legislative requirements
  • Manage and maintain HR systems, coach and encourage managers to build their knowledge and capability / use of systems
  • Maintain processes for the accurate payment of make up pay for employees on WorkCover
  • Calculate bonuses and incentives in line with current programs, expenses and other miscellaneous payments through fortnightly payroll
  • Manage the Payroll Officer, providing on-the-job coaching and training, motivating, encouraging and counselling staff member when necessary with the objective of maximising productivity
  • Coordinate monthly payroll tax and workers compensation premiums payments
  • Administer superannuation Choice of Fund processes, including monthly SGC payments
  • Reconcile payroll journals to GL
  • Manage end of financial year processes, STP, including reconciliation of payroll, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and workers compensation premiums

The Successful Applicant

We are seeking candidates who are motivated, have excellent attention to detail, and high level payroll knowledge. Key competencies are listed below:

  • Minimum 3-4 years senior payroll experience
  • Good knowledge of AU employment legislation including experience in award interpretation
  • Previous experience within national organisations with multiple awards / collectives
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Effective team player
