THE Bunbury Multicultural Group has seen a jump in the number of Indian families choosing to call Greater Bunbury home in recent years.
This trend has been complemented by the introduction of three Indian restaurants to the CBD, the speciality Spicy Superstore to Carey Park and a popular mobile curry van, Spice Journey.
In the lead-up to next month’s Multicultural Night Under the Stars in Bunbury, event coordinator Shamara Williams said the Bunbury Multicultural Group was glad to be associated with Spice Journey entrepreneur Falgunan Nanukurup, who will return for his second year at the festival.
“Spice Journey was one of the most popular food stalls last year and Falgunan was the first to get his application form in this year,” Mrs Williams said.
Mr Nanukurup, who completed his masters in cooking in Singapore, moved his young family to the South West in 2011 and opened the Spice Journey van in January 2013.
It has been a huge hit with local residents and tourists, regularly putting out more than 100 meals on weeknights from its locations on Ocean Drive and Estuary Drive.
The Spice Journey will return to the multicultural festival next weekend along with a range of other food stalls and performances.
The free, open-air event is now in its eighth year, inviting the community to travel the globe in three hours while relaxing under the stars.
The global music and food feast will come to the Graham Bricknell Music Shell on Saturday, March 1 from 6pm.
