BRISBANE artist Fintan Magee has created, in one day, one of the largest wall murals in this year’s Re.Discover exhibition.
His art work on the wall behind the Bunbury Grand Cinemas “is a piece in a series of figures reflecting the housing crisis in the USA and natural disasters from my own personal experiences” said Fintan Magee.
The motivation for his collection of artwork stems from the impact climate change has on local communities, specifically natural disasters in his hometown of Brisbane.
The chosen name for his artwork is ‘The Storm’ which is a fitting name to continue on from other pieces in the collection.
He wrote out the concept one morning, drew some sketches and then adapted it in Photoshop, “it took a day to do that” said Mr Magee.
He thinks Bunbury is a “pretty cool small town” where there is a lot happening, he said.
The street art in Bunbury gains a lot more attention because “it is a new attraction and people admire and appreciate it more in a place like Bunbury” he said.
Having worked all over the world as a full time artist, he said in Bunbury he really appreciates “the connection and ownership to the artwork which the artists get to have.”
The Re.Discover art exhibition is well under way in the Bunbury CBD. Be sure to get down and check out the work, for more information visit sixtwothreezero.com and Fintan Magee's website here
