A HEARTFELT delivery to the front of an out-of-control bushfire in Northcliffe has helped put a smile on firefighters' faces.
Shire of Augusta Margaret River volunteer firefighters David and Diane Holland were out responding to the fire when they found little surprise notes in their ration packs supplied by the Department of Parks and Wildlife and Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
"The notes have obviously come from local children either in primary school or those at the evacuation centre," Ms Holland said.
"Each firefighter grabs a bag or two when they head out for the day.
"The notes were a lovely inclusion."
Cowaramup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade volunteer Meredith Evans experienced similar joy when she discovered the notes sent to the brigade. "It wasn't until we opened them we realised they had letters in them to us all," Ms Evans said.
"They were the sweetest notes and it put smiles on everyone's faces, which is really important to keep the morale up, in situations like this."
Ms Evans wished to thank the children for the lovely gift to them all.
