THE Multicultural Night Under the Stars this weekend will bring some Fijian island atmosphere to the stage of the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.
The Fijian dance group is made up of families who are half Australian and half Fijian.
“There are seven Fijians and we have all married Australians,” group member Seko Koroivawai said.
He met his wife when she visited Fiji and they have been together in Australia for eight years.
The group will do a traditional Meke ritual dance in Fijian costume to showcase their culture at its finest.
There will be a $1000 prize for the best local group or individual performance, sponsored by BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina.
Event organiser Shamara Williamssaid she loved witnessing the diversity of cultures all come together for one night.
Bring along the family with a picnic rug and taste the flavours from around the globe with a large selection of multicultural food vans.
The Multicultural Night Under the Stars starts at 6pm at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell this Saturday night, February 28.
