A HOME and two businesses are believed to have been wiped out by the Waroona bushfire which residents at the Pinjarra evacuation centre have dubbed the 'demon fire'.
Kerry and Kathy Backstrom from Waroona Caravan Park said they were in the middle of a family birthday party when a black cloud circled above their heads on Wednesday night.
Mr Backstrom said after a lightning bolt struck, the clouds gathered to display a demon's face.
"We've been here a few years and this is the worst bush fire we've been a part of," he said.
"We're being told we might not make it home until Saturday.
"I hope we have a home to go back to."
Ms Backstrom said the couple had just finished renovating and had no insurance.
"None of this matters at the end of the day, we are just happy to make it out alive," she said.
"People are saying one home has been lost on the Harvey side and two fairly big businesses."
Federal Canning member Andrew Hastie made an appearance to offer support but had no update on the severity of the fire.
"I know almost 100 people are gathered in Preston Beach carpark," he said.
"People seem upbeat and have compared the situation to the Victoria bushfires."
Members of the community and Pinjarra shop owners rallied together to offer residents refreshments, toiletries and dog food when they arrived at the evacuation centre.
Cafe worker Cathy Hamilton and staff worked through the night making sandwiches and cakes.
"It's not much but something to help," she said.
K9 Dog Rescue group have been reuniting dogs with their owners outside the evacuation centre.
More information will be presented by DFES at 2pm outside the Pinjarra evacuation centre.
