THE alternative-rock three-piece Perth band Gombo will be launching a double side single at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Bunbury.
Their heavy guitar riffs and bass drum sound stems from bands like Tool and System of a Down, but lead singer and guitarist Ryan Dillon said the trio’s influences are as far flung as Cat Stevens.
Marco Cilli, Paul Southern and ex-Bunbury local Ryan have been performing as Gombo for a few years now and have appeared supporting the Perth, Melbourne hard-rock band Hailmary.
Now beginning to gain traction in the Perth music scene, their desire to release a single is being realised, before they go balls-to-the-wall with a fully fledged album.
“With our record we want to release something that sounds good live but we want it just a little more polished for the single,” he said.
Ryan is also keen to head back to his home town of Bunbury and reacquaint with an old friend, The Prince.
“The Prince is awesome, it’ll be a good night and we’ll be keeping it nice and loud.”
“So it’d be great if we could see some fans out to support us.”
Gombo will be releasing their single on Saturday, May 14.
