Bunbury’s Firey Productions has been chosen over a bigger, eastern states based competitor to bring two of Western Australia’s most popular tarmac rallying events to TV screens.
The local company has won a three-year contract to produce TV programs on Quit Targa South West, which is held in Manjimup and Pemberton, and on Perth’s Quit Targa West.
The shows will be broadcast state wide on Channel Nine later this year.
The Firey team will also produce WebTV segments on the McRae Motorsport Rallysprint and on an exciting new addition to the Targa calendar – the GT Fabrication Bunbury Targa Sprint, to be held in the Halifax Light Industrial area on June 26.
Firey Productions director James Hayward said it was a coup for local business.
“I’m very proud that Firey Productions has deservedly been recognised as having the local talent to write, film, produce and present commercial programming of this calibre,” he said.
“We’re very much looking forward to creating something special.”
Targa West event director Ross Tapper said tarmac rallying had become increasingly popular among West Australians in recent years.
“Both Quit Targa South West and Quit Targa West bring the thrill and adventure of road based rallying to the people of WA, providing residents and spectators with the opportunity to watch some of the most exciting classic, sports and GT cars compete against the clock on closed bitumen roads,” he said.
Mr Tapper said the events would also provide an economic boost to the region.
Filming will begin at Quit Targa South West in Pemberton on Friday, May 20.
