The Shire of Dardanup have invited the community to comment on a proposal from Citygate Properties to expand the Eaton Fair shopping precinct.
The Eaton Fair Activity Centre Plan provides for the extension of Eaton Fair to the north and east of the existing shopping centre to facilitate the expansion of commercial activities.
Shire of Dardanup chief executive officer told the Mail the proposed expansion involves increasing the net leasable area for more shops external to the existing shopping centre footprint.
He also said the plan includes additional deck car parking and an expanded town square between the Shire administration building and the shopping centre.
The Eaton Fair activity centre is estimated to provide employment for 1790 people.
The plan includes a number of guiding principles including creating an active focus for the community with a diversity of land uses which generate both day and evening activities.

It says all areas of the centre will be seamlessly connected to the surrounding urban area by a safe and convenient pedestrian and cycle network.
Medium to high density residential development is also encouraged.
More standards applying to the development of the core precinct include a minimum eight per cent landscaping being providing including brick paved pedestrian areas and all existing vegetation in the Eaton Drive road reserve be retained.
Beside the core precinct, the plan includes a frame precinct to accommodate a range of large format retail premises and offices, a mixed business precinct for businesses such as health services, a civic and community precinct to provide district-level civic and community facilities and a recreation precinct in accordance with the Glen Huon Masterplan.
