Aussie hip-hop icon Seth Sentry is making his way back to The Prince of Wales in Bunbury for his sixth show, or is it his seventh?
He can’t really remember and that’s the way he likes to keep it because according to Seth if you’ve had a good night at the Prince you shouldn’t remember it.
“Gigs at The Prince are always sell out performances, everyone is just jammed in there and people get mental,” he said.
“There is an energy you get from that place when you’re surrounded by people, it’s great.”
Seth Sentry and Remi have history together and Seth said it only makes sense to be working with him.
“I’ve known Remi around the traps and when I was starting out I was seeing a lot of the same artists and we became friends,” he said.
“He features on my album on the song Nobody Like Me and we’ve played heaps of the same festivals and we even shared the stage in Melbourne.”
“The fact is he’s a dope rapper he has a very unique style and it’s important to set yourself apart.”
Seth said he works to set himself apart by telling stories in his music.
“The narratives in my songs are important to me, I have a real focus on the lyrics, I’m a big fan of hidden meanings in my music,” he said.
“I have obscure video game references no one but me and a handful of people would pick up, I really like doing that sort of stuff in my work.”
Seth draws inspiration for his music from the world around him and if you went through Seth’s iPod you’d see some big name rappers he admires including A$AP Rocky, Eminem, Drapht, Hilltop Hoods and Kendrick Lamar.
“Normally when I’m writing it can start out as a word in a notepad or a phrase or a sentence and once I have a beat I go back to the notepad and I look to it for lyrics.”
Seth said when he arrives in Bunbury he’ll be here to give it all he’s got because he knows Bunbury will be doing the same.
“When the crowd leaves my show I want them to go out feeling exhausted because they went hard at the gig,” he said.
Seth will be here August 11 with his good friend Remi to tear up the Prince of Wales once again.
