UPDATE: About 12.40pm on Wednesday, July 13, police attended a report of a house fire in Bickerton Place, East Bunbury. The report also contained details of a male person acting suspiciously nearby.
When Police arrived, the person had left the area and inquiries made by officers led them to a residence in Usher later in the afternoon.
A male person matching the description of who they were looking for was seen jumping a rear fence, towards a canine unit that was in attendance.
The person was challenged to stop, however he continued to run.
Police Dog Geoffrey was deployed, and he caught up to the male person and detained him by taking hold of his left leg.
A 16-year-old male from Withers was arrested and it was established he was subject to an outstanding arrest warrant.
He was charged with breach of bail and is expected to appear in the Bunbury Children’s Court on Thursday, July 14.
South West Detectives also located a person of interest to their investigation at a separate residence in East Bunbury.
A 22-year-old man from East Bunbury was charged with criminal damage by fire.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 14.
EARLIER: A house in East Bunbury was gutted by a fire on Wednesday afternoon.
The home on Bickerton Place caught fire about 12.15pm. It is understood two men were inside the home at the time.
Bunbury career firefighters attended and extinguished the blaze which has destroyed a number of rooms at the front of the home.
The tenant of the home told the Mail he had been living in the home for close to 20 years and was devastated it had been destroyed.
Relatives said the home had only recently been renovated.
Police officers and detectives attended the scene. The Mail understands the fire is being treated as suspicious.
