The South West Opera Company is delighted to present Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, touring the South West in July and August.
Patience is a comical operetta which satirises the artistic aesthetic movement of the 1870s in true Gilbert Sullivan style, with an abundance of tongue in cheek melodrama and masterfully witty comedy.
A 16 piece orchestra of local musicians will accompany the SWOC.
All the well-born young ladies in the village, rapturously caught up in aestheticism are in love with two contrasting aesthetic poets — a fleshly poet and an idyllic poet.
But the poets are both in love with Patience, the simple village milkmaid, who cares nothing for poetry.
The girl’s military suitors don’t see the point to aesthetics, and provide a beautiful, humorous contrast to the aesthetic poets with their regimented, sometimes clumsy, military ways.

Patience is a funny musical romp that has entertained audiences around the world for over a hundred years.
The 16-piece orchestra of local talented musicians accompany SWOC’s already extravagant sound.
Patience is touring Bunbury, Busselton and Augusta in July and August and starring SWOC royalty, Marguerite Monagle, Rob Hill and Rob Littlewood, South West audiences are sure to be treated to an entertaining SWOC experience.
