The Special Olympics South West officially torch run saw over 50 police officers from across Western Australia join athletes from the Special Olympics South West Club to carry the flame of hope through the streets of Bunbury on Sunday.
The group ran from the Bunbury Police Station along Blair Street and Sandridge Road to the Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre where the family fun day was already in full swing.
The run was followed by an opening ceremony with guest speakers Mayor Garry Brennan, Brendan Kelly and Special Olympics Athlete Josef Bandera wrapping up with the cauldron ceremony at 10am.
The day of family fun featured over 20 sports-related activities suitable for all ages and abilities to promote an all inclusive and highly accessible community.
