It’s R U OK? Day today and R U OK ambassador Clinton Knop is urging the community to ask the question of friends, family and coworkers.
The campaign encourages reaching out to friends you’ve lost touch with and making more time for family, all in the name of promoting positive mental health habits.
Mr Knop understands first hand the value of a compassionate ear after a brush with cancer.
“I found going through a traumatic experience you need a network, someone to talk to,” he said.
Mr Knop said people should follow the four steps when approaching someone to ask if they’re okay.
- Ask R U OK?
- Listen without judgement
- Encourage action
- Follow up
Jake Kerr will also be around town in the Blxck Ink Coffee Van, spreading the word to men, encouraging them to open up about what’s on their mind.
