Lock up your back door and run for your life the AC/DC tribute band Live Wire is coming to the Highway Hotel and they’re hoping their audience are ready to get thunderstruck.
There’s no doubt AC/DC are one of the biggest bands on the planet, after 40 years of performing, releasing albums and touring the globe, everyone knows their name.
For Live Wire guitarist Kevin Gohrt, their music is staple in a diet of rock and roll.
“When I was an early teenager I started listening to them but I think everyone was listening to AC/DC when I was young and I think since then they’ve become a kind of universal band,” Kevin said.
“They’re seen as a bit of a bogan band by some, but the crowds that come to see us are quite diverse.
“There are the 60 year old people I expect to be there because they were 20 when the music came out but I also see plenty of younger people in their 20s.”
Kevin said the band had a clear goal when they decided to form a tribute band to one of the biggest names in rock music.
“I think the key word is tribute, we are a tribute band and we want to sound as authentic and as close to the real thing as we can,” he said.
“Not just because it makes for a great show but I think it pays respect to the original artist and it elevates us above the other bands covering AC/DC songs.
“It’s the little things like the tone on the two guitars and the way our vocalist does both Brian Johnson’s and Bon Scott’s voices very well and if we feel we’re straying we go back to the albums and listen to them again.”
Live Wire will be playing all the classics including Thunderstruck, TNT, Highway to Hell, Let there be Rock and many more in their massive 26 song set.
Pre-Sale tickets are available from the Highway Hotel and online with Oztix and there will be tickets available when doors open at 8pm.
