Sunday sesh this weekend at the Parade Hotel – who’s in?
The iconic drinking hole, famous for hosting Sunday sessions featuring bikini clad models strutting their stuff on a make-shift catwalk, will officially re-open on Thursday.
Unfortunate or fortunate I’m not sure, but the Miss Summer Girl Parade will be a no show under new management.
The makeover of the old Parade Hotel, which unexpectedly shut 18 months ago, sees the incorporation of two new spacious bars in greyscale design and two outdoor decks – perfect for a seedy hangover breakfast session.
Drinks were on the house as a preview launch of the Parade Hotel was held on Tuesday night to thank the tradesmen and everyone involved with the construction of the site.
Giant serving platters of beef mignons carefully wrapped in bacon, lamb chops with yoghurt and mint dipping sauce, fish and chips in a box and chicken kebabs came flying out of the kitchen – much to the delight of attendees.
The Parade Hotel’s new venue manager, who chose to remain anonymous, said the 10-month-long renovations had brought about a complete refurbishment, featuring a more open and brighter space.
“I have been asked about the Miss Summer Girl Parade, but at this stage I would say it’s not high on our priority list, but in saying that nothing is out of the question,” she said mysteriously.
“One thing we’ve kept is the views and a few tributes to the old Parade, some table and bench tops and we’ve kept the wood from the old deck which has been moved to the public bar.
“We are going to open our doors from Thursday – that is true – but we are going to keep our P plates on, and we’re hoping people will be patient with us as we fine tune our staffing.
“We’re expecting a lot of people to come through the door as we’ve had lots of inquiries already and we’re looking forward to welcoming everybody.”
The Parade Hotel is located on Austral Parade on the Leschenault Inlet.
