Eaton Fair leasing manager Michael Prosser has released a petition to secure a small bar in the Eaton Fair Shopping Centre.
The petition is for an upmarket bar and restaurant to open Small's Bar across from the already established Hog’s Breath Cafe.
The petition states the bar will showcase local produce through small shared plates and will be drastically different from a tavern.
“Unlike many bars in Perth and Bunbury, this will not be a loud venue like a traditional tavern,” the petition reads.
Mr Prosser said the support for the bar has told them the community want the bar to be opened and they were going to aim for a July opening date.
“We started the petition less than 24 hours ago and already have well over 1,000 signatures from both online and in-centre,” he said.
“The community support has been overwhelming and it has given us heart that when Small’s Bar opens in July it will be very popular. We have also been overwhelmed by the number of applications for employment, given the premises will create jobs for as many as 30 people.
“We have not had a single objection to the bar opening which shows the community understanding that this will be a relaxed and quiet venue that will give the surrounding residents a new and different food and beverage offering,” he said.
