Bunbury artist Dee Mosca is preparing to showcase her portrait gallery in a solo exhibition in Melbourne later this month.
The Stirling Street Art Centre program and events coordinator said she’s been working towards perfecting her first interstate exhibition since being accepted for the Alternating Current Art Space gallery six months ago.
“I just figured I needed a goal to work towards because my art was kind of a bit in the air so I just decided that Melbourne was my next step,” she said.
“I’ve put together eleven pieces all on canvas and linen which are all painted in acrylic inks and then I’ve done drawn canvas where I pull the threads.”
Mosca started painting portraits after graduating university to challenge her artistic abilities.
“I really enjoyed it, just capturing the different emotions and playing with flesh tones,” she said.
“I tend to steer towards portraits that have a bit of a sadness to them I guess, that’s kind of where I’ve gone with this exhibition.”
Mosca’s exhibition will be available to preview before she travels to Melbourne at the Tree Street Art Safari this Saturday, March 25.
Event organiser Jo O’Dea said it was a privilege to collaborate with such talented artists in the Tree Street Art Safari.
Mosca hopes to extend her network and gain some new experience from the Melbourne showcase, and eventually take on an international residency in the future.
The showcase opens in Melbourne on March 31.
