Football Federation South West have confirmed they will be returning to England this year for the UK ‘be a pro’ tour.
The federation will send its academy squad to England for two weeks in May to give the young players a chance to get insight into the life of a professional footballer.
The team is made up of players aged 13 to 15 who attend the FFSW training centres, situated across the region.
While on the tour, the academy squad will have the chance to play against some of England’s most prestigious clubs including matches against Tottenham Hotspurs, Chelsea FC and Ipswich Town.
The players will travel to both the Tottenham and Chelsea’s Cobham training centres to tour their state of the art training facilities.
The players will also get the chance to visit the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal Football Club, as well as a training session at St Georges Park, home of the England national teams.
FFSW technical director Jack Eades said the idea of the tour is to show the young South West players what it takes to play at the top level while developing their respect and hard work on and off the field.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our players,” Mr Eades said.
