An impressive number of committed walkers turned out for the third annual Bunbury Mother’s Day Classic charity walk on Sunday morning.
Many participants, including volunteers and pet dogs walked for two kilometres around Big Swamp parklands to promote breast cancer awareness.
Flower House Bunbury donated flower prizes for best dressed female on the morning and there were also prizes for best dressed male and best behaved dog.
Event organiser Dr Parthasarathy Ramesh said he was pleased with the turnout.
“I am particularly pleased with support, joy and enthusiasm from the youth of Bunbury who did the walk or ran all the way,” he said.
“And we are thankful to the weather gods for making it a beautiful morning for a relaxed walk for everyone.”
Bunbury MLA Don Punch also joined the walk with the Bunbury community residents.
“On behalf of the Mother's Day Classic team, we’d like to thank Don Punch, Bunbury City Council and all the participants and the volunteers for making this third edition of the charity walk a memorable one,” Dr Ramesh said.
The event organisers are now looking forward to the 2018 walk and hope to see even more participants join in and support the fight against breast cancer.
