A new exhibition, Cultures of Bunbury, will open at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries next Friday, May 26 from 6pm.
The exhibition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Bunbury and Setagaya, Japan which will take place this October.
On show at BRAG will be the 40 finalists from the 2017 Cultures of Bunbury photographic competition.
The winner of the major prize will be announced during the evening, with the lucky photographer winning themselves a return trip to Japan, courtesy of sponsors Simcoa Operations and Bunbury Camera House.
The top 40 images from the 2017 Setagaya photo competition, which explore everyday life in the Japanese city, will also be on display.
City of Bunbury arts and culture manager Julian Bowron said the Setagaya Sister City relationship was an important partnership which covered a whole range of areas.
“The arts allow people to connect and learn from each other across cultural boundaries in a way that language sometimes struggles with,” Mr Bowron said.
The exhibition will also feature a series of artworks which have been presented to the City of Bunbury from the City of Setagaya as gifts over the course of the 25 year relationship.
The exhibition will be on show from May 27 to July 10.
Bunbury Regional Art Galleries is open 10am to 4pm, seven days a week and entry is free.
