The Donnybrook Football Club has suffered a 17-point loss to Harvey Bulls during their round nine/Men’s Wellbeing Round clash.

The Bulls got off to a rollicking start, kicking the first three goals and maintaining possession in their forward 50.

The visitor’s tore through the midfield after each bouncedown and prevented Donnybrook’s forwards from touching the ball.

The home side kicked two goals and delivered numerous shots on goal, restricting the gap to 4.3.27 to 2.6.18 in Harvey’s favour at quarter time.

At quarter time, Bulls coach Paul Fimmano told his players to deliver the ball towards marking targets and push in the second quarter.

Two goals to Donnybrook gifted them the lead early in the second quarter.

Harvey took back the lead late in the term, edging in front 5.5.35 to 4.7.31 at half time.

The third quarter was different story, with Donnybrook gifting Harvey with three 50-metre penalties in front of goal.

The Dons missed several crucial opportunities late in the quarter, trailing 11.6.72 to 6.10.46 at the final change.

Donnybrook coach Julian Burgess rallied his players to take the opposition forwards out wide, pass to forward Jacob Green among others and protect one another.

The Dons shook off third-quarter jitters, keeping the visitors goalless in the fourth quarter.

Harvey, despite missing several chances on goal, held on for an 11.10.76 to 8.11.59 win.

Harvey player Thomas Smith received the Men’s Wellbeing Round match ball.

Teams take a break next weekend, with the Landmark game between the Peel and SWFL side taking place.

The Bulls are now third on the SWFL 2017 ladder while Donnybrook has moved to eighth.
