Bunbury man cops fine over illegal marron possession
A Bunbury man has been fined more than $5000 after admitting to illegally possessing marron.
Michael Wayne Cooke faced Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to taking 85 marron from Harvey Dam during a non-possession period on September 16, 2015.
Two of the marron taken were females with eggs, resulting in a further charge of possessing a totally protected fish.
Magistrate Brian Mahon fined Cooke $500 for each offence. He also ordered Cooke pay $50 for each marron he took, a penalty of $4250, and court costs of $116.10.
