Regional development minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced the appointments of Nick Belyea and Jennie Franceschi to the top positions of the South West Development Commission (SWDC) board.
Mr Belyea is the new chairperson and brings to the role extensive high-level experience in aviation, tourism and transport both in the public and private sectors.
Ms Franceschi is the managing director and owner of Advance Packing and Marketing Services Pty Ltd and has been an extraordinary leader in horticulture and value-add at the helm of a number of agribusinesses in Western Australia.
The appointments replace outgoing chairperson Stuart Hicks and deputy Sue Daubney, who have both made a significant contribution to the South West region during their service.
Regional development minister Alannah MacTiernan said both new members have extensive experience needed for the SWDC board to help increase job opportunities in the South West.
“Nick’s experience in aviation, tourism and transport will provide invaluable insight and leadership for the Board of the South West Development Commission,” Mc MacTiernan said.
“Jennie has a proven track record of increasing employment in regional areas and in developing new products and opening up new markets.
“We are indebted to Stuart Hicks and Sue Daubney, who have been massive contributors to the South-West and oversaw the funding of major projects such as Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront.”
