An operation initiated by Bunbury Police to investigate the targeting of commercial and residential properties has resulted in a number of people being charged.
Bunbury Police identified an increase in offending in the policing sub-district during July 2017.
As a result, they commenced Operation Triple Shot on July 17, 2017.
Police identified offenders were allegedly operating in small groups, targeting both commercial and residential properties in both suburban and semi-rural areas.
Offenders were then allegedly stealing vehicles and using them to commit burglaries and steal further vehicles, cash and property.
A numerous of people were identified and Operation Taurine was initiated, together with South West detectives and the Bunbury inquiry team.
Their aim was to reactively investigate offences and apprehend the offenders.
A number of charges were preferred and several offenders were charged.
This had a direct impact on reported offences, and a comparison of burglary figures alone shows a 32 per cent reduction in burglary offences between July 1 to 15 and August 1 to 15, 2017.
The following people were charged:
- 18 year old male from Withers - 12 x Aggravated Burglary, 10 x Stealing, 7 x Steal Motor Vehicle, and 4 x Criminal Damage
- 16 year old male from Carey Park - 8 x Aggravated Burglary, 7 x Stealing, 4 x Steal Motor Vehicle, and 3 x Criminal Damage
- 16 year old male from Carey Park - 8 x Aggravated Burglary, 6 x Stealing, 4 x Steal Motor Vehicle, 3 x Criminal Damage
- 12 year old male from Carey Park - 1 x Trespass, 1 x Breach of Curfew
- 34 year old male from Australind – 1 x Burglary
- 28 year old male from Australind – 1 x Aggravated Burglary, 1 x Stealing, 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle, 2 x Fraud
- 19 year old male from Eaton – 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle
- 34 year old male from Withers – 1 x Burglary, 2 x Stealing, 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle, 1 x Fraud, 1 x Breach of Bail
- 35 year old female from Bunbury – 1 x Aggravated Burglary, 5 x Stealing, 1 x Fraud, 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle, 1 x Breach of Bail, 1 x Possess Stolen Property
- 14 year old male from East Bunbury – 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle
- 34 year old female from Withers – 1 x Receiving, 1 x Stealing, 1 x Trespass
