Headspace Bunbury has used the Small Things exhibition at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery to start a conversation about mental health.
A small group of young adults visited the exhibition on Tuesday night which featured a special talk about the various illustrations.
Small Things is a beautifully illustrated children’s book which debuted in September 2016. Through pictures it tells the story of a boy who feels alone with his worries, but who learns help is always close by.
It is a universal story, told simply and with breathtaking beauty, about dealing with sadness, anxiety, depression, heartache or loss and finding your way in the world.
Creator Mel Tregonning passed away in 2014 aged 31 after battling depression and anxiety.
Her family insisted upon completing the work, with creative direction from artist Shaun Tan, who completed the essential final illustrations.
A reprint was required shortly after the release and publishing rights are currently being sold across the world.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
