The 2017 Telethon home in Port Geographe reached its reserve price of $900,000 after a battle between two bidders took place during the auction.
The auction is an annual fundraiser to spread over a number of charities and organisations which make significant advances in treating WA children who live with life threatening diseases.
The home was built by WA Country Builders on waterfront land in the canal precinct of Newport Geographe which was donated by Aigle Royal.
WA Country Builders in the South West general manager Rade Ristovic said it was very rewarding knowing that through their continued support they could make a difference to the lives of people in our community.
“Since building our first regional Telethon home in 2004, we have proudly raised over $5.92 million dollars to provide much needed financial assistance to a significant number of charitable organisations, children’s hospitals and research/medical facilities in WA,” he said.
“We are also very grateful for the ongoing support of suppliers and trades who generously donate valuable products and services to complete the Regional Telethon Homes.
“Without the support of suppliers and trades including we wouldn’t have the opportunity to be involved in the construction of the annual Regional Telethon Homes.
Harcourts Busselton property consultant Neil Honey was responsible for the sale said, he was happy to sell the home for Telethon.
“The reason I do it is because I have four healthy children and eight healthy grandchildren, I am happy to give up my time to help children who are less fortunate,” he said.
The lucky buyer said while it was a nerve wrecking experience it was amazing to be able to contribute towards Telethon and help the children.
