South Bunbury Tigers and South West Landmark player Katie Grieve has been selected by Carlton for next year’s AFL Women’s competition.
Grieve was selected by the Blues with pick number 12 in the AFLW’s 2017 rookie draft.
Grieve played her first season of football in this year’s South West Football League competition.
The footballer finished second in South Bunbury’s best and fairest count and was selected for the SWFL Women’s Inaugural All Stars Team.
Carlton’s women’s senior coach Damien Keeping said he was excited by Grieve’s potential.
“It’s a real testament to Katie’s character that she came runner-up in her best and fairest in her first season,” he said.
“She’s definitely a rising star of the competition, so we’re glad she’ll be on our team next year.”
