The South West Rail and Heritage Centre will host a special event on Sunday, November 26 from 10am to 2pm to celebrate the Australind train’s 70 years of service.
To reignite old memories and to inform younger locals, ‘The Australind Goes Platinum’ event will have displays showing the Australind train in all its iterations, the various railway stations along the line and contributed stories from those who have travelled on the Australind.
This will be complemented by an art competition with entries from schools along the route and a photographic competition for seniors depicting the towns and countryside along the Australind train’s route.
There will also be models of the new and the old Australind train on display.
Entry to the event at the South West Rail and Heritage Centre on Turner Street, Boyanup will be by donation with light refreshments available from the picnic van.
