UPDATED: A 35-year-old man charged with the murder of his baby girl in Brookdale has appeared briefly in court.
Arron Colin Martin remained expressionless when the murder charge was read to him.
It is alleged that on November 9 he murdered six-month-old Isabella Sully Jean Martin.
On Friday afternoon a police spokesperson confirmed Mr Martin was the child's father.
Mr Martin, who was wearing a dark blue t-shirt, was represented by a duty lawyer who told the court that she had taken an application for Legal Aid.
Mr Martin was remanded in custody to appear via video in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on November 29.
No further details of the alleged offence were read out.
Police received information regarding an injured child at a residence in Chiltern Avenue just before 8pm on Thursday evening.
St John Ambulance and WA Police found the baby inside the home and quickly provided emergency first aid.
The six-month-old was rushed to hospital but later passed away as a result of her injuries.
The case was handed to Homicide Detectives and the home was cordoned off while police investigated.
A neighbour told the ABC a couple in their 30s lived at the property.
"I mean that is really sad ... I wouldn't think something like that would happen around here and they were very quiet people they never really heard anything from them," she said.
A reporter told 6PR the news had shocked neighbours, and they had witnessed officers "carry a very small body out of the home, under a blanket".
A forensics team is currently on site.
Mr Martin was charged with murder later on Thursday evening.
