Hay Park scored a much-needed win over Collie in the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association last weekend.
The round six clash saw Hay Park batting first, desperate to clinch its first victory of the season. Charlie Home knocked three fours to clinch 38 runs from 70 balls, while fellow opener Jono Whitney was dismissed on four.
Punya Bahl assisted the run rate with 17, before Michael Tassone added 23.
With Hay Park on 4/127, Ashley Sbizzirri hit four fours and one six to reach 52 from 75 balls. Following Sbizzirri’s dismissal, the bottom order added a handful of runs to end Hay Park’s innings on 8/180.
Tyson Hayes proved effective for Collie, taking 3/24 with the ball out of five overs.
In reply, openers Blair Malatesta (40 from 65 balls) and Brayden Kent (66 from 94) looked set to give Collie a home victory.
But Collie’s middle and bottom order batsmen failed to capitalize, with Matthew Tanner, Connor Mumme and Ayden Parkin all ousted for ducks.
The home side was bowled out for 165 in the 47th over.
Hay Park’s Jack Charters took 3/28 from 10 overs to help lock down the result.
Marist surprised the critics with a four wicket victory over the Colts.
After winning the toss, Colts appeared shaky early on before Murray Goodwin knocked 47 runs – including five fours – from 50 balls.
The Colts’ bottom order collapsed, with Joe Barningham and Dylan Bairstow both out on two runs.
Reece O'Connell impressed for Marist, collecting 3/30 from 10 overs.
Chasing the Colts’ total of 152, Marist batsman Kyle Davis stood his ground and hit five fours and one six to finish with 43 ruins from 97 balls. O’Connell delivered 55 not out from 97 balls before Marist reached 6/153 with one over to spare.
Dalyellup Beach now sits third on the ladder after eclipsing Leschenault.
Leschenault looked troubled early on after Jarrad Quinn was trapped LBW by Dalyellup’s Liam Renton.
Kurt D'Agostino got out for a duck while Riley Italiano was caught on four. Middle order batsman James Metchford top scored with 42 from 77 balls, before Leschenault was dismissed on 118.
Dalyellup Beach opener Scott Harber hit four fours and three sixes to score 47 from 51 balls, while Corey Fagan assisted with 32 runs.
Leschenault bowler Michael Newman’s 4/31 from eight overs gave his side hope. Following Harber and Fagan’s dismissals, Dalyellup’s middle order secured a five wicket victory.
