Bunbury athlete Bailey Reimers has capped off 2017 with impressive results.
Reimers set a new Under 17 Boys high Jump record of 1.95 metres for Bunbury Little Athletics during competition last month.
“It was pretty good, I was a bit annoying because I knew I could get a little bit higher, and I didn’t, but it was still pretty satisfying to finally get that one,” Reimers said.
Reimers had previously clinched the interschool record (1.94m).
He had also secured the Bunbury Little Athletics record, 1.89m, last season.
The athlete mainly competes in high jump, but has previously taken on the 100 metre dash, long jump and triple jump.
The 16-year-old first started little athletics in the previous season.
“I have a good vibe about it, a lot of sports are competitive but also a bit too competitive,” he said.
“Athletics is competitive but there is a good attitude towards it.”
Reimers trains every day – through sprints, jogging and high jumps – and competes on the weekends.
