The new year will continue to be a time of transformation for Bunbury and the wider South West.
Projects that have the potential to unlock the economic and social potential of the South West will make progress, opening up new opportunities for the region and its residents.
The Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project will be among the projects making headway.
We’ll see the final touches put on the Koombana Bay foreshore revitalisation, including the pedestrian bridge across The Plug.
Construction of the new-look Dolphin Discovery Centre is set to get under way, as are works on stage two.
The strategic public environmental review will go out for public comment.
Further afield from Bunbury, projects such as the Busselton-Margaret River Airport development, stage two of the Margaret River Perimeter Road, and Manjimup town centre transformation will all make headway.
While these projects may not be taking place in Bunbury, they will help to strengthen the South West as a whole.
The Busselton-Margaret River Airport development, for example, will make it possible for people to fly into the South West, bringing tourists directly into the region.
Already, a number of transformations have taken place in our region.
If it’s been years since you’ve been to places like Collie, Manjimup and Busselton, why not take a road trip and visit these towns during the summer holiday period.
We’re sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the positive changes that have taken place.
Collie has undergone a renewal program and now has an art gallery and skate park as well as a central park boasting a playground as well as a café housed in a restored railway wagon.
Manjimup has also undergone improvements to its town centre as well as its timber and heritage park.
And Busselton’s foreshore is continuing to evolve.
We live in a wonderful part of the world.
By continuing to work together for the good of the region, we can make it an even better place to live, work and invest.
We look forward to working with you to shape our region in the new year.
