City of Bunbury and WA Government representatives celebrated the new-look Koombana Foreshore's re-opening on Saturday.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan led formalities, before a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country connected the Foreshore with its indigenous roots.
Planning Minister Rita Saffioti and Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan addressed festival-goers about Koombana’s benefits for tourism and employment.
Ms MacTiernan believed the foreshore would help to make Bunbury a “regional capital” and a strong second city for Western Australia.
The Minister revealed 72 per cent of the project’s total funds had been spent in the region.
The festival treated attendees to an assortment of food trucks, market stalls, and family activities.
Meanwhile, local music hub Good Nights hosted live performances from Tom Day, Valentine and Great Gable in the amphitheatre.
Stage two of the Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project was completed in late 2017, while developments for stages three and four have commenced.
