Wednesday, March 28 2018 marked a special day for 28 people from 12 nations living and working in the Greater Bunbury region.
The City of Bunbury held a Citizenship Ceremony for the group, led by Mayor Gary Brennan.
The new citizens recited their pledges and collected their Australian Citizenship certificates in front of family members, friends and City of Bunbury representatives.
Mr Brennan and Bunbury Councillor Murray Cook then led the group in a rendition of the Australian National Anthem.
Those acknowledged at last week’s ceremony were:
- Maria Vanessa Alonso Dominguez from Venezuela.
- Suneerat Bartlett from Thailand.
- Maria Concepcion De Castro Bermudez and Nicole De Castro Bermudez from the Philippines.
- Elaine Campell, Matthew Moore, Adelaide Moore and Betsy Moore from the United States of America.
- Belinda Manulit De Leon from the Philippines.
- Tracey Lee Ecclestone from South Africa.
- John Andrew Ferguson from Scotland.
- Ezhil Kotran Govindarajan, Sridevi Ramanadhan, Nithilan Ezhil Kotran and Theja Shri Ezhil Kotran from India.
- Angus John Irwin from Zimbabwe.
- Michael Jacobs from India.
- The Lachia family – Mylene Naboa, Victor Jose Santos, Clair Andre Naboa and Vian Carlo Naboa – from the Philippines.
- Leena Paul from Libyan Arab Jamahiri and Dan David Lawrence from India.
- Mohammed Salim Miah from Bangladesh.
- Carolyn Ann Mortley from England.
- Folrentino Lausano Ramos and Florence Jude Arro Ramos from the Philippines.
- Michael Jerome Stanko from the USA.
Mr Brennan said: “I have many enjoyable duties as Bunbury Mayor and probably the most enjoyable one is conducting Citizenship ceremonies.”
“It is great seeing expressions of pride on the faces of people who are becoming citizens of our great nation.”
