Hundreds of Athletes and spectators turned out to the Bunbury Recreation Ground to help kick off the HBF Three Waters Bunbury Running Festival.
Competitors in the ultra-marathon, marathon, half-marathon, 10 kilometre and 5km events left from the Bunbury Runners Club headquarters on Sunday morning before speeding around the CBD.
The runners passed by the Leschenault Inlet, Koombana Bay and the Indian Ocean during their journeys.
Tony Smith took out the 50km Ultra-marathon in a time of three hours, 35 minutes and 28 seconds.
Smith placed ahead of Richard Avery (4:00:43) and Shaun Erasmus (04:17:30).
Gaku Abukawa (02:42:37) crossed the line ahead of Kim Thomas (02:46:21) and Keeton Hardwick (02:46:49) to win the Marathon.
Michael Lori clinched the Half-marathon in 01:13:47, beating Gerard Hill (01:14:02) and Zac Jeps (01: 17:04) to the line.
Scott Tamblin powered through the 10km run, winning in a time of 00:34:30 ahead of Steve Weller (00:38:47) and Graeme Buswell (00:39:17).
Zeke Tinley clinched the 5km run in 00:16:33. Daniel Rubick (00:16:08) came second while Noah Mcaneny (00:17:12) placed third.
The Bunbury Runners Club and HBF gave a special mention to Jon Pendse, who completed his 11th HBF Three Waters Running Festival.
HBF said, despite living in Perth, Pendse enjoyed the festival’s community spirit and friendly atmosphere.
The event also featured a contingent of runners from Japanese sister city Setagaya.
The Bunbury Runners Club thanked the marathon committee, the City of Bunbury, the sponsors, and the competitors.
