Sunday, April 8 saw Hay Park packed for round one of the South West Soccer Association’s Pioneer Cup.
The tournament was part of a weekend full of soccer to launch the league season which starts on Sunday April 15.
The ladies teams started the cup matches with Dynamos facing off with Bunbury United.
Dynamos won 10 to 3.
Amanda Minervini and her daughters, Nikita and Kandice, played together for Bunbury United. Kandice scored a hat-trick in her first senior game.
Capel defeated Collie with the end score 1 to 0.
Football Margaret River played Dunsborough which went down to a penalty shoot out.
FMR won 7 to 6.
Manjimup lost to Geographe 0 to 4.
The men played in the afternoon and saw Manjimup lose to Bunbury United 0 to 4.
Football Margaret River defeated Hay Park United 3 to 0.
Dunsborough defeated Eaton /Dardanup 9 to 2.
Dalyellup won against Blackwood 9 to 1 and Geographe won against Harvey on penalties.
Capel lost to Collie 1 to 4.
Bunbury United clinched the Charity Shield with a 2-0 win over Busselton on Friday, April 6.
The club then celebrated its 50th anniversary with a ball on Sunday night.
