Three Bunbury TAFE students received South Regional TAFE Overall Student of the Year Awards at an Awards ceremony last week.
South Regional TAFE’s South West zone campuses celebrated their highest achieving students on Friday, April 6.
Vocational Student of the Year was Chad Cowan, who completed a Certificate IV in Digital Media Technologies.
The Women in Non-Traditional Trades Award went to Kelly Simpson for her efforts while studying a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
Certificate IV in Business Administration student Sharni Bennell won Trainee of The Year.
Timothy Yarran took home the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year, sponsored by South West Aboriginal Medical Service
Automotive Apprentice of the Year went to Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology student Benjamin Mangan.
Bunbury Surveying student Alby Palmer, 19, received the South West’s highest honour, taking out the South Regional TAFE South West Student of the Year Award.
This award was sponsored by Piacentini and Son and the Rotary Club of Bunbury.
The overall winners were presented with their awards by the Minister for Education and Training Sue Ellery.
Students who had demonstrated outstanding performance and academic excellence during the year were also recognised with the presentation of campus and learning area awards and major sponsored awards.
For the South West and Narrogin campuses, the finalists and winners were joined at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre by their family and friends, college staff, members of the Governing Council, sponsors and invited guests.
South Regional TAFE Managing Director Duncan Anderson congratulated the students on their amazing results.
“The students receiving the awards have demonstrated drive, determination and application. They can be justifiably proud of their achievements,” he said.
South Regional TAFE students from the Great Southern zone will attend their awards night on Thursday, April 12.
