River Valley Primary School in Burekup has received $10,000 to transform a concrete patio area into a fun and lively outdoor classroom.
Member for Collie-Preston Mick Murray MLA presented the Local Projects, Local Jobs grant to the school.
Some money has also gone towards the school P&C’s uniform expenditure.
The number of students at Burekup Primary School has increased by 50 per cent with more than 100 students now in attendance.
Mr Murray said it was great to see student numbers at a country school increasing and that growth would benefit the whole town.
“The school already has an active approach to getting kids outside and combining physical and mental exercise which I witnessed last week watching students run mini relay games to complete computer coding exercises,” he said.
“I’m happy to contribute funding to see more of this outdoor learning take place to inspire and encourage children at school.”
