Six South West teens recently returned from an ocean voyage that saw them spend six-days aboard the STS Leeuwin II.
Coming back with a collection of memories and experiences of what life is like on a full working ship, the group was able to participate in the program after receiving the 2018 Shire of Dardanup Youth Explorer Voyage scholarships.
One award-winner Ruby Gregg said being on the Leeuwin taught her to push herself and helped her to improve both listening and leadership skills.
“These skills will really help me over the next two years as I complete high school,” she said.
Dardanup’s Samuel Fox Slater said he had learnt a lot about himself and would recommend the opportunity to others.
The Shire of Dardanup was able to provide the scholarships with the help of sponsors Cristal, Doral, Lions Club of Eaton and the Lions Club of Dardanup.
