Three Bunbury Catholic College students will soon be showcasing their skills to Western Australia’s equestrian community.
Kaitlyn Brown (15), Giaan Evans (15), and Alix Crain (12) will represent the school in the show jumping, eventing, and dressage categories at this year’s Interschool Festival in Brigadoon from April 18 to 20.
Kaitlyn will take her horse, Joshua Brook Chase Me Charlie, to the state championships while Alix will be riding Norse Park Phoenix.
Giaan and her horse, Kings Town Galliano, will also be stepping up to the challenge.
“We all have good horses and have been riding for a pretty long time,” Alix said. “As long as we warm up I’m sure we will do pretty well. It’s honourable to compete but also there is a lot of pressure.”
Kaitlyn and Alix represent Capel Horse and Pony Club while Giaan rides for Dardanup Horse and Pony Club.
The trio began horse riding at a young age before becoming infatuated with the sport and continuing on with it.
They each train at their horse riding clubs and find enough time to practice at home.
The trio said they have enjoyed learning new disciplines and making new friends in the process.
“I was enjoying it and I kept becoming more enthusiastic about it,” Giaan said.
Kaitlyn, Alix, and Giaan would like to thank their parents, siblings, and clubs for all their support.
