The Rotary Club of Bunbury-Leschenault is lending a helping hand to those less fortunate in the community ahead of winter.
The group is currently working on the 25th annual Give A Damn, Give A Can campaign.
Team members are calling on community members to donate canned goods to the cause.
Bunbury-Leschenault Rotary Club team members will collect the cans from neighbourhoods across the Greater Bunbury region on Sunday, May 6.
The group has asked for people to place their canned goods next to their letter boxes on the day.
The goods will then be distributed to the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and the In-town Lunch Centre to help homeless people in the area.
Give A Damn, Give A Can committee member Shaun Brodison said the group seeked to help those stuck out in the cold of winter.
“The reason we do it in May is because it is close enough to the start of winter and those organisations generally have a large shortage over the winter period,” he said.
“Our aim is to stock their shelves for the coming need in winter.”
The group is hoping to collect 20,000 cans, looking to eclipse last year’s total of 15,000.
The Bunbury-Leschenault Rotary Club is still looking for volunteers to help out with collecting cans on the 6th.
