A new not-for-profit organisation is looking to drive a series of transformational projects that will support economic growth across the entire Bunbury-Geographe region.
Go Geo, recently formed by key local business people to drive the Bunbury CBD Revitalisation Plan and other projects, is looking for members to help them achieve their vision.
The plan to boost economic development throughout the Bunbury Geographe region includes growing jobs, building a skilled workforce, growing the region's population, developing the economy, and driving tourism.
An initial key aim is to turn Bunbury into a prosperous and successful cruise ship destination, with a dedicated cruise ship berth built at the Outer Harbour.
Go Geo also wants to see coordinated events and a push to ensure retailers open when cruise ships are in town. Other priorities include bringing the Australind Train into the CBD.
Go Geo will lobby and advocate for the region through targeted meetings with politicians, industry leaders, investors and decision-makers.
“Everybody appears to love the Bunbury Revitalisation Plan. We're about getting the ball rolling - dragging people into restaurants and getting wallets past windows,” Go Geo Director Colin Piacentini said.
Go Geo General Manager Stakeholders and Communications Emma Nesbitt said becoming a member of Go Geo could provide individuals or businesses with the opportunity to work with other members, community stakeholders and outside investors to achieve desired results that benefit them and the region as a whole.
Businesses and individuals can join as members, and offer four different levels of support. Visit gogeo.com.au for more details.
